Alex how can they run heads up when there are random pairings. Maybe after 3rd round when the cars are laddered.

Ok guys ,Here is what is happening the last i heard,
You will qualify at least 2 sessions . You will be on a ladder 1st round like always...With heads -up runs in effect(scales and fuel check) If you loose and want to do the re-entry ,all the re-entry's will run each other and probably wil be paired off the original qualifying sheet from ther respected q-position... All the re-entry winners will go to second round. The second round ladder will be set by the original qualifying also by picking all the winners in order off the original q-sheet.(1st round winners and re-entry winners) And from there you will have a set ladder til the end....still having possible heads - up runs.. How does this sound to you guys...? I suggested this to Scooter and he seemed very interested in this system as you will still have heads up throughuot the whole program without random pairing and everybody chasing everybody to the lanes in hopes of a heads-up... If you do like this idea ,you need to e-mail Scooter and let him know. This is about as fair as you can get using a re-entry program... Guess what ,there will not be many playing the ladder except for a 1st round by, so there shouls be some fast runs at MIR cause it can handle these cars very well....

Danny,
I was told the re-entry rd would be random pairing but everything else would be on a ladder. Guys, I don't like BB/Reentry either but to pay the 5 grand they will need them. You are still paying the same entry you would otherwise and running for 5 times more money. Chip |

I'm a bracket racer that runs S/SS. I would prefer to keep S/SS events of any kind with no buybacks, HOWEVER, you have someone putting on a $200 entry for $5,000 to win GUARANTEED purse... with the track record of support that racers have been (not) showing, it's hard to blame them. Personally, I'd like to see a car count minimum on it saying "No buybacks if over XX cars", but hey, it's a trial run. It's probably also worth pointing out that if S/SS racers are so adamantly against buybacks, then nobody will buy back, so it will become a no buyback race by definition. ![]() Quote:

While "heads-up" runs are way cool, are there folks that will not race unless there is a chance of a "heads-up" run? I don't see many heads-up runs when I view the event coverage on ND or DRC. It seems to me that there is a very slight chance of a heads-up run at any NHRA national event (other than when class is contested), so why would that be a reason not to race MIR. And why would there be such a big deal about when the ladder starts. The delayed start of a ladder due to "buy backs" could still result in a heads-up match, the same slight chance that is present at any national event. Royce feels he needs the "buy back" program to fund the purse and cost. The reason is that he can't trust the racers (not his quote) to show up and support this type of race. If there was a showing of unity and participation (car count) maybe he then could consider tailoring the event to the racers wants and needs. My opinion is that Royce and Scooter are offering a place to start. It is now the racers part to appreciate and initiate a bond that will yeild more places to race and allow the class to thrive!

Heads up or not , i will still go and support this race..
I was just making suggestions to try and cater to all involved.... We need to support this race so we can continue to have class racing and hopefully with a nice payout.... As said ,this is a trial and error deal and can be ironed out to almost perfection... I'm in either way
