....you need a rental car and you ask for the one with the stick, even if that means downsizing to the economy level. But I don't think there is such a thing as a stick rental car anymore. I think I learned more about speed shifting on Vega's and Chevette's more than anything else at the time.
I worked at a full-service gas station around 1977-1978. I remember a '69 SS396 4-speed Camaro and a '72 HO 4-speed Mustang that some waitresses from across the street brought in for tune-ups and brake jobs. Seems the "test drives" I gave them took longer than the actual work! Dang, I'm almost embarrassed thinking about how brutal I was speed shifting the customers cars! ![]()
