Close is good enough in the "new" NHRA.As long as it remotely resembles the correct year you're probably be good.
I was told stories about back when Farmer was around.He told a guy to come back with a Pontiac that was missing the clock in the dash. I think todays tech guys,with some exceptions,aren't quite up on the visual characteristics of the cars in the rule book.Not a knock on them,that knowledge comes with years of experience.The tech guys I've dealt with do a great job trying to control the "crafty" shenanigans going on in our sport.If left to really do their jobs I think we would be racing under fairer conditions. Just the opinion of a bored,retired bum.
