It's a 2008, I don't think he can put any other motors in it

The spec sheets show this combo to be 491 HP in stock and 425 HP in SS. Does this change in the guide carry over for SS?

Wonder if the 08 Shelby that you could buy for the street is on the books, I thought it was but I have not looked in a long time. Not sure how hard it is to convert a CJ body to a Shelby body but it would be cool to see someone run one of these cars like it should be run in stock. 08 Shelby should be factory rated @ 500hp x 7.5 + 170 = 3920 to run AA/S. Also not sure just how different the engine spec are for the CJ/ Shelby but I don't think its alot in 08 anyway. Would still run 9.50's in AA @ 3920 I think

It would be one heck of a project to do even if it were legal. Think of all the "special" parts that are allowed on the race CJ what would NOT be allowed in the Shelby. It would be a lot easier and less costly to convert a legal street Mustang. Jim

What do they get that is different? I know they get a glide in auto trans but Mr. Fezells car is a stick and I assume like ever other fast stick stocker he runs an aftermarket trans such as a Jerico or G force. Would he have to possibly change out the aluminium center section the CJ came with for an iron 9 inch center? I am not at all familiar with the CJ's and just wondering out loud. Thought they were pretty much Mustangs that were factory prepared to run in stock just like any other racer would prepar a car themselves strip it down lighten it up take all the emmissions off all the soundeadner and other such things. Does anyone know if the 08 Shelby is in the guide I can't get it to come up on this computer?

Denny, the '08 Shelby isn't in the guide. The Roush Mustangs are listed but not the Shelby.

My bad. I was just looking at the specs and assumed the one with the smaller throttle body, less compression and unported heads would be the lower rated engine. It seemed odd to be rated at 300 when the other was only 235 or 232. Maybe it was a clerical error......... At 300 hp at least you could run the car to maybe 900 feet before shutting it off! It would have to be more fun!

I guess thats what I get for looking. LOL>
