The seat angles were off. The back side angles were all over the place and not concentric with the seats. When I ground the seats correctly the margins varied in thickness.
I'm hoping they dumped some seconds on E-bay or the "Net" that didn't pass their Q.C. It was so bad I called the other shop and requested another set of valves, which he didn't have. This experience was highly out of the ordinary for what I've seen with Ferrea valves. I hope this is not going to be Ferrea's new standard of quality.

I have been a technical person most all my life (and that is a long time). As well as playing with cars I worked for a huge company and we had a super lab that I got to play in. We could test or check about anything you wanted to look at. I really dont understand any saying any particular valve or anything is better than others. I really depends on the circumstance that each is used in. I played with many valves over the years. I was around when Manley was THE VALVE to use. Well really it was the only one we could use. Nuttin else to git. Then all kinds came on the market. Both domestic and foreign. I too have used many Ferrea but also along the way I have used those from a company called REV. The owner, Al, will just about do any thing you want. As you well know, and you can make a simple valve angle change and that valve that would out flow all the others may go to the back of the bus. You can raise or lower a valve in the head and see the flow change. And yes I too have seen some changes in Ferrea, but I still consider their valves to be one of the best in the market. And I do have a problem with a company that lets some of their rejects get out to the back door and get on sites like Ebay and are still sold under their name. Just plain dumb.
