The Turbo 400 came out in 1965......My friend Leon Marainnian (S/S Vette racer today) had a 65 396/325 HP SS Impala with a 400 Turbo he raced when new.in stock at 75&80 in Md........first one I ever saw. Small block cars still had the P/G.

Yes it was one of the first. I didnt know they existed until I saw Leon's car. The 409/340 HP cars were P/G's or 4 speeds. The 400 HP 409's were all sticks. Leon can tell you about the 65 396 when you catch him at a Div. one race. It was that pale green color and a really good loooking car. The Vette he races today is the one I found for him back in the "stone age" that he raced as a stocker for several years. It was an original 427/390 HP automatic car painted in silver w/black interior.

TH 400 was actually introduced in 1964 in both the Buick and Cadillac lines. 1965 was indeed the first year for the TH 400 in a Chebbie. Terry is correct. Full size car only, optional behind the 396 big block.
