Rick, you're right, they are light weight castings and prone to cracking.

However, if that is what you are required to run, then you have no other choice. I would look for the heaver, flat accross the bottom 'made in Mexico' heads. I think there is more meat there. They were used on early crate motors (late eighties, early 90's.) back when they were called 'Target Master' motors.

Your best bet on finding a pair would be in a junk yard, out of a truck. I was lucky. I found a virgin pair of Target Master "made in Mexico" heads at a swap meet.
