Default Re: Stock seat clarification please

Maybe if the term "Racing Seat" was changed to "Sports Car Seat" or "Touring Car Seat" would be more acceptable. The stamped aluminum seats which require custom bent CM tubing frame welded and a thin cover are not stock appearing. Be careful what you wish for because the investment in the purchase, fabrication and installation can be substantial. The image of SS, Comp, PS legal seats will never be digested as in any way stock appearing.

Upholstered, padded sports car seats could be acceptable. Many production cars through the years have been supplied with Recaro and other well known aftermarket seat manufactures products for years. Don't know about bench seats but will say the the seat in my 2007 Silverado 2500 HD is much better than my old 73 K1500 Sierra Grande. So there may be units from late model cars that could be acceptable.
More than likely these seats will be heavier than your 40 year old stuff but it will be safer and bring opportunity to move some lead around.
