I also thought we cut it back to 1/8th because shutdown was too short. I saw several wrecks there. Did they move the starting Line back?

Chip, we've been over this. But here's a refresher.
40 years ago (actually 39, in the fall of 1972), Tommy Ivo ran the first-ever 5 second run in Top Fuel. Probably running around 230-240 mph. Back when the shutdown was much shorter than 2011. In 2011, the shutdown is longer. The brakes, parachutes, etc are better. But 150 mph S/R or 180 mph T/S-T/D can't stop? ![]() ![]() ![]()

looks like they are doing staging lane work. They did some starting line work last year.

I *believe* the plan is the lengthen the shutdown. Not sure how much further they can go...moving the starting line back was a plan at one time, that would take some work.. Where there were four staging lanes along the cafeteria, there are plans for six for 2012, as well as re-worked lanes for the weekly bracket cars that could, perhaps, be used for overflow for some .90, S/SS, or Top classes (Street/Trophy lanes that look straight down the track, at a 90* angle to the lanes alongside the cafeteria used by most Pro-Am and Top/Modified weekly cars). Guess we'll see. I plan to be at the yearly P.I.D. Reuinion/Hall Of Fame dinner in early February, maybe I can get some for-sure answers then, if not sooner.

Gotta agree with Chip here. Unless they are lengthening the shutdown I wouldn't enjoy running 1/4 in a TS or TD ride. I almost stuffed a S/R car in the sand up there in '03 myself.
