Thought I would look up the best 1/8mile incrementals for the different supercar combos from the 2011 US Nationals:
Drew Skillman AA/sa 2010 331 SC CJ 6.050@ 116.59 3695 lbs min wt Bo Butner AA/sa 2010 331 SC CJ 6.037 @ 114.60 3695 lbs min wt Evan Smith AA/sa 2008 331 SC CJ 6.019 @ 113.52 3550 lbs min wt Don Fezell AA/s 2008 331 SC CJ 6.053 @ 116.98 3730 lbs min wt Andy Durham AA/sa 2011 512 v10 Drag Pak 6.107 @ 112.44 3590 lbs min wt Teutons' AA/sa 2011 512 v10 Drag Pak 6.102 @ 114.34 3590 lbs min wt Keith Lynch A/sa 2010 345 Drag Pak 6.189 @ 108.38 3375 lbs min wt David Barton A/sa 2009 370 Drag Pak 6.112 @ 110.42 3400 lbs min wt Kevin Helms A/s 2010 370 Drag Pak 6.300 @ 110.24 3250 lbs min wt Gary Richards' B/sa 2010 428 CJ 6.285 @ 108.26 3465 lbs min wt Irvin Johns B/sa 2010 392 Drag Pak 6.342 @ 107.13 3560 lbs min wt Any info about what the min weights were at the time of runs would be good to know! * I have figured out the Min wts. Not positive they are correct.* Last edited by JeremyDuncan; 01-15-2012 at 12:31 AM. |

What the hell figured I would correct the 1/8 mile ET's from the above list using their min wt at the 2011 US nats to the new Supercar weights:
1) Fezell 2008 331 SC CJ - 6.001- stick 2) Butner 2010 331 SC CJ - 6.008 3) Teutons' 2011 v10 DP - 6.011 4) Durham 2011 v10 DP - 6.016 5) Barton 2010 370 DP - 6.014 6) Skillman 2010 331 Sc CJ- 6.021 7) Smith 2008 SC CJ- 6.084 8) Lynch 2010 345 DP- 6.108 9) Johns 2010 392 DP- 6.141 10) Richards 2010 428 CJ - 6.145 11) Helms 2010 370 DP - 6.300- stick |

With the purposed weight breaks Jeff posted looks pretty fair on the surface but !! As every one knows the car that David Barton drove at Indy was at least 2 tenths faster then he showed. That would put the mopar in the 5.90 range . Ford needs some help . The 428 and 352 could not get close to the mopars and the SC mustangs would need help as well .
Jeff how about 3550 for the SC mustang and 3100 for the 428 and 3000 for the 352 just to make it fair

I just saw a 428 Mustang go 9.57 @ B weight in fall testing, don't think the Mustangs need any help.

6.00s @ 3700 pounds on a 9 inch tire is flat out impressive. Considering those numbers are from Indy with Indy heat in play it's certain these cars will be 5.70 or quicker next year in good air. That is mind bending performance.
ADRL should call the new class 'Pro Modified Stock'.

My sentiments exactly, haven't even run the first race yet and people are looking for weight breaks. Hope it works out, i think the class is a great idea on ADRL's part.

Barton pushed the Carp car to the limit instead of *****footing around with it. Maybe if some more Ford guys pushed their stuff and flogged it like he did, it would be closer. Is there anyone with a Ford willing and able to do that? Are the other DP guys willing to go after them? I think the answer will be yes to both, but time will tell. If a racer bought one of the new cars thinking they wouldn't have to beat on it to be competitive, this is clearly not the class to be in. That's ok, too. Just a choice. I know they are a ton of $$$. I don't have one either. I think if Barton and Carp show up, they are the standard for now and something to shoot for. I think that is pretty cool. There are plenty of good cars and racers out there within reach if they chose to work hard enough and race hard enough to try and beat him. I really think that is what will make this class attractive to other racers and fans alike. Racers with the new cars will duke it out and we will see some cars pushed and raced hard instead of clicking them early and jacking around. It can be a very exciting race platform for all. I would hope that some races take place before any real changes occur with factoring. It is hard to determine what is real with all the games that were played at NHRA. The ADRL deal may actually reveal the true potential of these cars. I think it will be a great start to highlight class racing and the new cars! The positive press for a sportsman performance class can help us all if it is supported by other racers and fans.

You hit the nail on the head Jim. ' if a racer bought one of these new cars thinking they wouldn't have to beat on it to be competetive' Thats exactly what they did ,go out and get a bogus combo thats is so soft they wouldn't have to put the effort into it that was already put into the traditional combos, then go beat them up as if you really did something. I cant wait till this becomes a real pissing contest and they all start complaining it cost to much
