So what do you get when a '64 Plymouth Belvedere with an aluminum front end and a '64 Fairlane Thunderbolt with fiberglass parts that meet up unexpectedly...an expensive bill.

Swiss Cheese Heads,
The 'SWH' say that approximately 120 holes were punched out of the 1963 SD-421 Pontiac Catalina frame. Grapefruit size. Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 01-22-2012 at 03:54 PM. |

This '62 Pontiac Catalina Super Duty called 'Rainmaker' was found sitting in a shed and turns out it was originally Don Gay's old '62 Pontiac SD.

Does this sound correct,,,,,
1963 Pontiac SD-421 Catalina 'Lightweight',,,,,,,,,,,#3608 lbs. When 'Swiss Cheesed',,,,,,,,,,#3308 lbs. If 120 holes were punched out the frame, with a net weight removal of 300 lbs. (or 4800 ounces) The grapefruit sized circle of metal-frame weighed approximately 40 ounces or 2.25 lbs. each. Your Class Racer Mathmetician,,,,,,,,, ![]() |

I don't know all of the answers...it sure would be nice to talk to someone that worked on the production line who actually built some of these Pontiac Swiss Cheese Super Duty cars though.

Does anyone here know if Don Grotheer's old '63 Plymouth was an aluminum or steel front end car originally...unless he just stuck a scoop on the Plymouths steel front end.
![]() ![]() And how about some real aluminum fenders which came on this '64 Hemi Dodge 330 from the Ramchargers team...since these pics the car has been all restored, with lettering and all. Last edited by Hemi Moose; 02-02-2012 at 07:30 PM. |
