Car counts were about normal for an IHRA points race in Florida. We did run 1/8 mile. Every super stock car there was a regular NHRA racer. The track was really good all weekend. My car was deadly consistent all weekend. The driver sucked though. Brien Radley kicked my butt 1st round both days. The track also hosted a real good racer appreciation BBQ on Saturday evening. This was a well run event. I just dont get why they don't get more support from the racers.

Mike, I think the big reason for low car count in Bradenton is the distance. I have 2 cars and would loved to have raced their this past weekend but I am 500 miles one way from Bradenton. 2 cars entry for both races $540.00 then the fuel to go and come and the other expence it would cost $1200.00-$1400.00. I am retired so I have to pick the races that are close to me. It is good that IHRA has many Tracks that you car race at but some racers just cant afford to travel 500 miles from home.

I guess that should slow down all the huffing and puffing about it not being no heads-up run.

Saturday there were 4 SS/HA cars out of 12. Sunday there could have been 3 GT/DA cars. There was a bunch of us swapping classes on sunday to aviod the heads up if we were the slower car. Thats just smart racing. Everybody had a good attitude and had fun with it.

This was my first IHRA race as a competitor and I'll echo what Kenney and Mike wrote earlier...I had a very nice time and plan on coming back. The IHRA and track officials did a great job all weekend - especially getting the track ready to go after the rain Saturday night and Sunday morning. Chet and I enjoyed the barbecue Saturday and the whole weekend was a great experience!
