Default leaf spring help

I need some help on what/which leaf springs to buy. I have a 77 nova 2 door and I put
slide a links on it. It has a multileaf stock spring with 5 leafs.

it doesnt hook real good and I was told my problem was in the leaf springs. Where there were stiff and multi leafed, it wouldnt let the rear roll and lift like it should.

I flat dont know what to buy and dont know who to ask....I was told buy one company to purchase about the same thing but then another company was trying to sell a split leaf....was told by another company splits were just flat dangerous....go with a mono leaf

any help would be appreciated...
thanks

Calvert has sold a lot of split monos. I would start there. It may be that the person that said split monos were unsafe, isn't familar with modern stock eliminator set ups. We have run monos and split monos.

Man, the amount of misinformation/disinformation out there is incredible.

If a split monoleaf is "dangerous", we better get ours off the car, they've only been on there for about 800-1000 passes over the past 6 years.

We run CalTracs, with their split monoleaf.

Run the springs you have, if the ride height is good. Buy good shocks, Remove all the rear spring clamps. if you get too much rear rise put some clamps back on the rear.

Alan, i dont know anything about leafs except you cant get them from competition engineering. . . . . I MISTAKENLY bought a set of slide links, called comp to ask about the leafs and got a "duh, we dont know" answer.

Started doing some reading and seems like i came across an article by eaton that claimed split monos were dangerous BUT most fast stockers use them. . So couldnt be that dangerous. . . Thought I would ask

The car has stock leafs with all alum inserts in the leafs with grease fittings. . . I did remove one leaf and then cut another one down to fill the gap for the spring purches. I also cut off the back clamps around the springs.

I think i found one problem. . , need to ask about shock location. . . . This now is a bracket car. I bought it from a friend and have been slowly putting it back to stocker form. I noticed someone moved the shocks inward some. When the did, they mounted it with the lower eye in a way that when the rear trys to rotate, it trys to bend the shock. I need to turn the lower bracket to work with the rear instead of trying to prevent it from moving. . . . But while im at it, does it need to be in a stock location or can it be altered?

Thanks
