Bret, just wondering what type of advertising was done to promote these SCS races...did you guys mention these events to any of the Hot Rod, Car Craft, & Drag rags out there.

Moose, it's a standard TV/radio blitz for each of the ADRL events so far this year.
I think I mentioned before that I'm sending out around 270, (278, I think), releases to outlets above and beyond the normal drag racing publications. I do send to Hot Rod, (which is why the series was mentioned in Dave Freiberger's last editorial), Car Craft, PHR, DRA and the rest of the hardcore books but the releases also go to Car & Driver, Motor Trend, Automobile and even Popular Mechanics. I can reach the hardcore audience much easier through electronic releases but the plan with the SCS was always to get it out to non-drag racing outlets. The response has been exceptional so far. Plug in "ADRL SuperCar Showdown" to Google you'll get over 14,000 returns. That's not bad for a program which was first announced only four months ago. |

Thanks for the reply Bret, and yes I bet there are a lot of links & hits on the internet, but I was thinking more or less of an article done on the SCS series now that you have a few races under your belt...it's nice to have an editorial written about the series, but a 2 or 3 page article with some drag photos published in the regular car magazines or import mags maybe to bring in some new blood...yes the electronic age is nice, but don't forget about the old way of sending out smoke signals was all I was getting at.

Moose, you're forgetting the first race was only five weeks ago. For print media, that's not enough time to have covered even the first race yet. However, Drag Illustrated has had very nice coverage and the new Drag Racing Action has a fantastic spread. Both plan to continue their coverage.

I wish I would have made the trip to Maple Grove instead of Atco. As usual the track conditions were hit or miss for any car with power. We have no business trying to run SS/AH cars "all out" on a track like that.
Has there been any official teardowns at any of the ADRL races? And fuel checks? |

Fuel checks, yes. Close tech, yes. Official teardowns, no. There have been a few "onsite corrections" but nothing major. I believe Jimmy Holzman has already indicated teardowns will be more frequent.
Let us know if you can attend any events, David. We'd love to have you. |
