They should take a different tact on it... you should get points and contingency for getting HP! Honey vs vinegar. It's strange to me how in this "performance" eliminator that often when someone goes fast, they get berated on this board. Which is it? To go fast or not to go fast? As a corollary, so many exclaim "performance!", yet find excuses to avoid any changes to class structures that might result in more heads-up runs.

Best place to set a record? How about Bristol? Then you can open it up a little more without feeling too guilty.

We used to get points for setting a record. ET record was same points as winning one round, MPH was half that. Didn't have these bogus soft indexes either. Made a bracket race out of it. About anything will run under these indexes if you have a clue at all. Don't have to be fast to go rounds any longer.

Montgomery, AL in November/December was crazy fast. Tons of records set there back in the day.

Yeah and it's on the same weekend as a Div.4 race. Houston in the spring can be just as fast. Went to Houston this spring in GT/B to protect HP and still went .94 under. That would be 1.19 in SS/F.

Not only was it crazy fast, they let you run all day. Just Stock & Super Stock. Run as many times as you want. The way it should be.

(For conversation purposes).
Atco with out a doubt, (AKA Disneyland) for a non altitude corrected record run. Atco was built for speed!

Atco absolutely has the weather, but they have some serious track prep issues.
