Anyone who's ever raced knows that there are bad rounds and boneheaded things that happen from time to time. But looking at the results from round 1 at Topeka, I'm not sure I've ever seen such reaction time numbers at a national event.
In stock, -.053, .100, .116, .111, .218, .-120, -.104, -.084, .170, .122 Super stock: .294, -.298, .161, .100, -.427 (Rampy!), .140, .118 I understand that a couple of these may have been done in reaction to the opposite lane, but like I said I've never seen so many in the same round before. Sunshine? Rollout problems? It's a mystery to me. |

Several of us were watching round 2 of SS, and Pete Peery and I both noticed the tree coming down as soon as the second car's stage light came on. Do you think they may have sped up Auto Start? Or the starter doing that? Lots of people using blinders had problems.

Happened to us at a SSSSA race. I believe the tower had the tree set on "Pro" with a .500
Tree. Caught me by surprise as I usually stage second. Several other racers experienced the same thing. Next round I staged first to avoid being distracted by quick tree. The tree got fixed the following round, but they cancelled the race due to timing issues. Was a really different experience. Ron Ortiz U/SA lets just bump in, whoa, its green

Ron, that may have been what was wrong. Still had three lights come down, but sure seemed to start quick.

Ed, do you think it was "normal" during time trials, and different for eliminations?

Ron is correct. At one of our SSSSA races the tower had the computer set for a Pro tree but with a .500 interval. The tree started automatically when the last car staged. It was a mistake in the tower and was corrected but made for some surprisingly bad reaction times!
