Stephen and Horace Johnson. I'd like to ask a question.
I grew up in a family with a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Fastback 2 door coupe, no post. What would the engine options be that it could have had. It was a long time ago but was my familys only car and I always thought it was cool, pale yellow w hub caps. Thanks, Chris O'Keefe |

According to the guide it could've had a 240, 289, 390, 427 or 428. My dad had a customer that actually a 67 dark green 427 8v 4speed car. Very nice car also. The 428's were what they called the 7 liter at the time. I think the 390 4v would be a good combo as well. If I'm thinking right those are full frame cars with coil overs and a 4 link type suspension.

Well it looks like either way you go with the 390 you are going to have to write a letter! The big cars list a 315 motor and can't run the big cam or the Holley carb( lists flattop) but NHRA has given them the HP hits of the 320 HP Mustangs. Older 390s with flattop carb have an NHRA factor of 280 HP. OR, request HP back on the 2V combo. It's not a small 2V and using the older 280 HP combo as an example you might be able to get the 2V defactored to 230 or 240. Now that sounds like a "Dime Rocket" to me!
Either way to do the 390 you've got to write a letter and make some phone calls.
