Default Re: Weight savings between enamel and lacquer paint?

I can't tell you how much one weighs over the other but the two cars I have done from bare metal were with 2 coats of a light colored single stage acrylic enamel over a light primer. 13 years now on the Duster and aside from racing related chips and scratch's it looks as good as the day I rolled it out of the spray booth. I would not expect a base coat/clear coat paint job to be lighter.

I would like to see someone weigh a car before and after to get a real difference. As said with solvent evap and the overspray all the paint won't leave the booth on the car. I won't be painting another car for at least a year so I won't be much help. I usually paint my cars in pieces so I would have a tough time getting the weight without nicking stuff.
