I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of turnout that D1 area race gets, and we all know why.....

Besides the normal IHRA racer turn out, I do not expect much from NHRA racers, most are egotistical cattle and would not support anything outside of their circle. I run both sanctions and witness first hand NHRA racer's attitudes towards any alternative. I will be there for stock/superstock.

Why you ask?
Go to Drag Race Central and check out the dismal support that San Antonio got for their race, and you'll have your answer...somehow I feel D1 racers will (no matter how some are only loyal to the NHRA), support a race like this better than D4 did. I'm just anxious to find out by how much? I agree with Ken, and their race wasn't close to my home, however I also knew that there was no other race within that range of my home that was putting up $5k for only a $200 entry fee. When I posted my thread about the San Antonio race, there were some who thought I was crazy for traveling 2400 miles round trip (but it just showed how little they were paying attention to what I wrote, because I said I traveled 1,000 miles one-way, so where did the other 400 miles come from?), but the 2008 (actual) miles I DID travel were worth it for a chance at that kind of money, and I only needed to win 3 more rounds to get it (most NHRA races on that level), you have to win 5-7rnds to get to their winners circle, and the only hope you have of matching the money IHRA posted, is by having all kinds of decals plastered over your car....race one of these events, and you can win the same kind of money, and showcase more car and less decals! Since Maryland isn't that far north of North Carolina ( in comparison to San Antonio from Phoenix), they might actually get some North Carolina racers there? Which would make it even cooler to notice....

Well the Sportsman Spectacular is a week a way. I do know of several racers coming outta NC & SC for this race, Plus the normal MD & VA racers. It looks like its gonna be a GREAT race. I hope MOTHER NATURE is a little nicer to us weather wize as its been blistering here for the last several days. So the big question is WHO is coming ? Sound off here Cal HR1177 |
