Default Re: Should the MOPAR V10 DragPak get a 3speed?

All the Chevy's will have Glides, but the paperwork says a 3 speed option. Our ammended paperwork says the same. Part of the deal on 000 was to develop a 3 speed which we have. Dave Thomas developed the aftermarket 3 speed. We have a T/Flite 727. Fords got them already. Anyway NHRA is considering the thing now. And yes we would be in the shootout. We have run a best of 9.29 in the No Problem heat and another 9.26 with the other car, but we could not duplicate it. Got to low .30's. I don't think that will get in the Big Show. Last year we ran 9.47 fastest in Indy with a two speed. We have not touched the motors. 000 has over 300 runs that we know of.

That is the same thing I am saying, I think with the added weight on the cobra jet, I think it will become a 9.30 to 9.40 car, and I am talking about the fastest ones, I don't think that will get them into the big show either. I don't see the reason many will change their cars just to race in the shoot out, knowing they may not qualify for the big show. The index should have been in the 10.20 to 10.30 range.

Well there's your problem right there!

Btw, if you guys need another gear so bad, just go ahead and put a 5 speed in it! We all know you've got a pretty good stick driver!

No offense directed at the Teuton clan , but this thread shows how bogus this whole deal is.

If the car was a real Stocker to begin with ,it would already have a 4 speed automatic in it from the factory.

Which you would then have to remove and replace with a three speed automatic!

Just think how fast it could be if the engine was removed and sent to a Quality stock eliminator builder, if that happened it may not like the 3 speed, but we will never know because there needs to be a reason------

First off I ain't picking on anybody, just had some thoughts.

I was told once by Wesley Roberson, that NHRA did not make you choose the particular car that you race. Each individual can choose what ever car they want and then compete with it. What he did tell me was, I had to adhere to the rules that were established by NHRA concerning my car choice.

I don't understand how a person can pick a particular car and when he finds himself at a performance disadvantage, wants NHRA to bail them out over a poor choice of vehicles and allow something that never came with the car.

Maybe we can all get Superchargers to level up the playing field??

Nothing should surprise us anymore. Integrity.....whats that??
