Just wanted to know if someone has had experience repairing the braking system on the Yukon Surburban 2000 ? I've changed the brake pads, calipers, rotors, bleed the brakes twice and still having a soggy pedal. I'm told that the Master cylinder is ok. Hope someone has had some experience with this model. Thanks. Claude

did you take apart and lube all the caliper slide pins?
If any are froze, it will get a soggy pedal. |

How do you know the master cylinder is ok, and what brake fluid type did you use?

Hi Chris, I replaced the pins, clean the metal, Mark that I have to believe the dealer as they replace it the year before, and yes, I know that parts fail but I'm feeling that I'm missing something just like the dealeship mechanic probably missed. I hate changing parts for no good reason. Thanks for the help. Claude

put a clamp on all the brake flex hoses at each wheel, they make clamps for this if you dont have them you can use vise grips. If the brake pedal is rock hard the master is good, at this point you will need some one to take the clamps off one at a time while you keep your foot on the brake pedal. you should fell the pedal drop a little after each clamp is removed, if the pedal drops alot that is the problem wheel. Caliper? piston? sliders? pads not moving free in bracket? air in system. This should help Jim whitehead |
