BIGGG--I agree with you--Woody (Woodro Josey ) has my vote but you left out his most important accomplishment--he's a Division Two "Hall of Fame" member.............One of Busters original "Rebels" .

Someone needs to get you young farts together (Woodrow, Smedly, Dilcher, etc.,) or interview everyone that was a "been there done that," and get some stories and pics for a book.
It could take a couple of years but we need to archive while we can. Maybe someone could start a website where you guys could start placing stories. That'd make it easier for some. And a blast to read. Sometimes the best substitue for brains is silence. |

"LITTLE" George Cureton???
Only guy I know of who could have FLAT-TOWED his car from Wilmington, Delaware (?) to the '67 NHRA World Finals at Tulsa, Oklahoma, won the Eliminator in a traction-limited car (4.10 1st gear X 4.88 or maybe 5.38:1 gear on 7" tires) in the starting RAIN, tore the engine down immediately after the final in that same rain (at the runner-up's demand), was pronounced "legal", had almost NO lettering on the car to speak of, and not decal ONE, but got it all together for the photo-shoot... and, they called him "little " George Cureton??? LOL!!! What a joke! I think the man is/was a GIANT, on the basis of that one race, alone..... If I got any of that wrong, please correct me; that's the best I can do after 40 years of shaking my head about it (Yes, I was there.) Still shaking my head about that truly amazing accomplishment. Of course, he gets my vote.. but, I'd nominate Ben Wenzel for First Runner-Up... Can you say "persistence"????

Merry Christmas from Baghdad, I'm not old enough to remember Jr Stock (37 years old) but Neil Smedley told me he has footage of me about 5 years old on 8 mm film next to Jim Marshalls car at Niagra. Don't let his youthful looks fool ya -- he is older than Dirt!!!! HAHA Daran
