Wagom Killer,
I have no idea whether any film footage of that race exists, but a good person to ask would be George, himself, or perhaps Ed Miller, who won Super Stock, I think. That was the race in which the Hurst Corporation put up a bunch of EXTRA money (like $10,000.00???) for the win in Super Stock, to encourage participation in that Eliminator.) It was a well-attended race, so likely, somebody's got it on film... I just don't know who. Sorry I can't be of more help... Bill

Insofar as "seeing" that Final round between Cureton's sedan delivery (hydramatic-equipped) and the ex-Jere Stahl KILLER wagon of Wally Nissen (3-speed manual) the interesting thing was this:
"little" George knew it was sprinkling rain already, and knew he'd need every microsecond he could muster, so he staged at about a 15-degree angle... not enough to get caught, but crooked enough to increase his rollout SIGNIFICANTLY.... LOL! Sedan deliveries with hydros had terrible traction problems. I was sitting in the top row of the stands, looking down at this and as I became aware of the rather severe angle George had staged at, I said to myself, ("That sly devil!!!!") LOL! I couldn't believe that the starter let him pull that off, but it was about to rain BIG TIME, and they wanted to finish the race with no delays. What an exciting end to a REALLY great race!!! "little" George got 'er done in grand fashion that day! I won't forget that one... OH... the angle-staging didn't matter; the other guy redlit.

How about Tritak & Morgan with their wagon? Later, I think they ran a SS/DA 'Cuda. Paul's point about Boertman might be tough to beat though!

I have to agree Jeremy, but I'm a little biased. I seem to remember meeting your father way back when our dads were racing for Smothers Brothers. Dad was brutal on those 4-speed cars.
