Post Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock

Cody,

I haven't really followed the Summit Super Series rules, but the fields are set for the bracket cars. Using a completely different format, I believe they were determined at the respective divisional ET finals after racers ran for points on a local level at their "home" track. But they won't have any other bracket cars at this particular Sportsman Spectacular anyway because the time is needed for the ET finalists.

Ed,

They prefer to call it a "re-enty" round. The first round losers can run each other and then the winners can proceed to the regular 2nd round. It's not an automatic buy-back. You have to work for it. This is only in effect if there are less than 64 cars. 64 or more = no re-entry.

This is basically so they don't lose their butt while trying to provide a decent payout. A guaranteed $5,000 + contingency for $200 entry is pretty good in my book. Unfortunately, IHRA still got burned bad at San Antonio because very few cars showed up! But they paid.

Myron, I read about it. I'm a tad slow (not just my car), but am not clear about Saturday. Doesn't appear to me I would get to run the second race either. Not by any stretch am I among the 32 best. LOL

Talking Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock

lol I think you might be getting classes confused. There are 3 races:

* Sportsman Spectacular (No ET cars): TT and eliminations start on Friday and finish Saturday.
IHRA class winners from the Sportsman Spectacular get into the Sunday TOC World Finals if they win without having to re-enter or can already be qualified.

* Summit Super Series (pre-qualified ET only): Time trials Friday and Saturday and finishing eliminations on Saturday as well.

* TOC World Finals (pre-qualified class only - no ET): Time trials Saturday with one Sunday followed by eliminations.

You do have to pay attention because all of these races overlap to some degree.

If you have friends and/or sponsors at home, they might be able to watch you Friday & Saturday on ihra.com. Sunday also if you win SS Saturday. No entry fees for TOC qualifiers either!
