I dont understand why you think this guy should be hung from the tallest tree. If you remember the year before last at Indy, one engine was five cc's light, another one someone changed valves and never re cc the heads and they were incorrect. Others had chamber problems and were all allowed to compete till the next race. So, Why is this so much different. If it is me, it should not be taken out on him. This is a performance based class, I think everyone is trying to get at the top of the sheet and not the bottom. (Except Fletcher could not resist buddy). lol
So why dont they make it mandatory that if you are 1.150 under you come apart, not just a head and cam shaft check. You bring a basket and it all comes apart. If you can go 1.150 under you can go 1.200 under. So that way no one with the same motor combo gets affected by your performance. Or if the timing system is out to get you like Bo spoke about others would not be affected. Also why dont they make the top ten cars all pull numbers and five of them go to the barn. That way no one is getting picked on and it is all random. If you need to stay out of the top ten, then so be it. How many combos have already been wrecked by an illegal head castings and lightweight billet cranks till they get caught.
You go Brian!! welcome to classracer, your doin great...

Hey Grumpy, see all the problems created when you hold it wide open? I'm simply trying to reduce stress and conflict in the world, while at the same time promoting peace, love, and harmony. Coexist baby...

Short and sweet -------------It was an oversight ! A one man shop with 30 different motor combinations going at the same time. The engine builder has a track record of dozens of cars going fast and passing tear down time and time again. His skills and reputation are beyond reproach. A year suspension for this is rediculous. ( nitrous, big valves, roller cam, bigger piston domes, heads 10cc's short, strokers , now that's cheatin ) -------- Anybody read the Junior Stocker book yet? Now that's an eye opener, you talk about stretching everything to the max. ------ Here's just a few of the things I was bounced for back then and never got a vacation because they weren't FLAGRANT! Just not being able to race was punishment enough. ----- Clutch fan instead of a straight fan----1 degree too much overlap measured with a piece of tape around the balancer then streched out and measured with a vernier , never mind it was .020 short on lift. ( Alan can probably remember that one)--- 2#s too much pressure on a 84# seat but 30# short on the open ------A carburetor that Farmer said " didn't look right" ----- a camshaft that checked way to the good but the paint stripe was the " wrong color " ------ Like my comments or not I've been doing this since 1959 and earned my 2 cents.

Fletcher sorry! You no that you dont accomplish anything not holding it in the full length of time. I feel bad enough for other things that surrond this matter, this only made it worse. Almost as bad as my 6yr old getting his first win in his kart after trying for a year and a half. And have him come in smiling from ear to ear and they bounce him because his wheel base was 3/8in off how do you tell a 6yr old looking over his glasses we won but we didnt? All because dad changed tire that week and the back spacing was different.DAM DAD!!

It only gets worse sport. The whole length of time / accomplishment thing has many downsides...

I was tossed for the piston being to far down the hole. To little compression.
This was in the 90's

Art I remember you telling me this. Was this at a Div 2 race? I remember checking you in Orlando one year, when you had the 4door. You had stock pistons in your engine that had multi dishes in it and ALLOT of deck on the block...Man that thing was stock! Crazy.

Division 1 race Dutch Classic. The specs called for .004 above the bore. My pistons were .030 (or so) down the bore.
They told me if the specs called for above the bore it couldn't be below the bore. And I got tossed.
When I pressed for some logic. I was told that I could be building an advantage in piston to valve, by the lower deck height. I took the rule book and showed them that I could run 2 head gaskets of any thickness. And they told me that was different.
BTW the motor is a non interference motor. I could cut the timing belt and spin the motor with the starter and have no contact piston to valve.
That day I lost all respect for curt lashure.
