1970 I think it was....
I was there in the lanes when that happened....Was half asleep as it was pretty late and we had waited for a long time for Stock to pull out. It was a saturday night extra eliminator.....Sunday was the WCS event and as I recall it....Tommy Calahan jumped in his old car the '62 Plythouth that Frank Iaconio had been driving.....and won the race on Sunday.....I do recall the scrape marks on his helmet from the Challenger rolling over......and the broken front wheel. Not very cool......The track had some drainage ditches along it.....very unsafe.... I was there with Joe Simon and at the time we still owned and raced the Chevy II in one of the earlier pictures with Decola-Delvecchio's names lettered on the door......We sold it to them in 1972 Sanair was nice...Only track I can ever recall having a beer stand near the stands.......and a bar in the tower...

Rich, thanks for the story & info on the Callahan & Sulc Challenger...anyone know if the car is still around today.
