daryl,,,,,,,,,,I'm still lurching

April 11, 1968 (Hayward, California)

Chrysler Performance announced that '9' Super Car Clinic Teams
will be parading dealerships with their new 1968 Hemi Super/Stock
Drag Race Cars.

* Sox & Martin
* Ed Miller
* Arlon Vanke

Have already started the clinics around their local areas.The initial buzz
is that these specially built 1968 Hemi Barracuda's are 6/10's of a second
quicker in the quarter-mile than the already dominant 1965 Super/Stock Plymouth and
Dodge cars campaigning now.

Sox & Martin have been performing their Super Car Clinics since January 1968, with their
new 1968 Plymouth 440 GTX, which runs at 116 MPH while campaigning in the NHRA
SS/F class.

The team also has a new 1968 426 Hemi Road Runner with a fiberglass front-end, that
runs in the AHRA S/S Experimental Class. The Road Runner is capable of reaching 134 MPH
in the Quarter-Mile, and with Elapsed Times of 10.60.

Wink Re: Original hemi dart information

The latest issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines,, a "bonus issue" for subscribers, has a great article on a pair of '68 Hemi cars,,, the Jim Keyes Dart and the Keyes & Lewis Cuda. A couple of very nice cars. No history is provided on the Dart in the story prior to Keyes' acquisition,, but the Cuda is the former Centolanza Bros. car. The Dart is still dressed in '70s attire, and the Cuda is more contemporary and up to date.
This special issue should be on the stands soon and is worth checking out.

This is the Dart that set me down this path of wheelstanding stock bodied obsession. John Friel owned the class back in the early to mid 90s.

a990hemi, I've always liked John Friel's L023 '68 Hemi Dart as well, I still remember his old blue & white paint job on this car too, but I haven't seen or heard much of him in the past several years...does anyone here know him personally or talked with him lately, if so please fill us in.
