Al , I'm really enjoying your Olds photos.
I really love the Troxell racing engines ad. In 1970-'71 I my family lived at 525 N. Gilmore St . ,the address in the ad.. Jack used the address since his plumbing business was located in the back., Being 17-18 years old at that time and hanging around and helping on the cars ,and going to the track with Jack ,my other uncle Dick Meyers ,Willy Schmoyer, and Butch Sentner was priceless. Sure wish I had taken more photos back then. BTW , I was driving a '50 Olds 88 convert with a '57 J2 stroked to 404" then.

Wow ! Looks like Olds completely hijacked this thread.
I've never seen that many Olds race cars in one place. Only a very few Pontiacs were mentioned. BUT, I'll bet I can fix that ! Will take a while. But, I'll start workin on it, a little at a time. This is gonna be fun, ya'll ! ![]() I'll begin with '56, '57, & '58. |

OK, now for some '59 & '60 models.
These include several nat record holders. Jim Wangers won '60 Indy in the Hot Cheif 1, & was named Mr. Stock Eliminator. The final was an All-'60 Pontiac race ! https://www.sema.org/news-media/maga...liminator-1960 Ronnie Broadhead not only set several nat records, but also won a Stock championship. These '60 model Pontiacs did real good in Stock class racing, set lots of records & got quite a few big class wins. Last edited by oldskool; 09-13-2021 at 02:29 PM. |

The '61 Pontiacs also did real good.
Pontiac came up with lots of good over-the-counter parts. Those 389SD & 421SD engines won a lot of races, in the early '60's. They powered lots of class winners. Also did real good on the NASCAR circle tracks. Gary Moore set a nat record & won the div 4 Stock points championship with his. Carol & Lloyd Cox got several big class wins with theirs. |
