X2. I shipped a bare set of BBC cylinder heads (don't remember the exact # or application but they were a rare high dollar set) and UPS returned one to me broken in half! I told them you would have to drop it off a roof to get it to do that (they were cast iron). I had paid for the extra insurance but they never paid and I ate $1K and finally gave up. That's been 10 years and I haven't used them since. I'll walk something across the country before I'd use UPS.

If you have any contacts at the local dealerships, check to see if the parts dept or shop has a trans shipping case laying around. They come in a fork-liftable, 2 pc, fitted plastic case.

UPS broke off a tail hsg for me. Rap it in plastic and band it to a pallet. have them ship it back on the same pallet. Works good.

I have cabinet shop across street I get sink cut outs and make shipping containers.
I square them up with saw and screw together w/ drywall screws.
I have shipped blocks and heads this way you can bolt or screw the contents to the box.most cabinet shops are glad to give away cut outs,I use them for all kinds of things

Do not use UPS, only FedEx and if you go in and set up an account (all it takes
is using your credit card) you will save 20% in shipping charges. At least that
has been my experience

I agree! We ship Fed Ex. Have several pakages per day. for many years. Never a problem. Correct about having an account also. Great service.
