Hey,
They're called 'OPENS' let everyone run wide OPEN! It would definitely help car count. I for one would love to see all these great Stockers and Super Stockers run flat out. |

No, we don't. We don't need any sort of human factor to introduce error or bias. Especially not the way NHRA is run and personnel selected thse days.
We just need a properly designed and well thought out system, one pound weight breaks in the upper classes, and enough rewards for performance to make it work.

It amazes me how many old car owners worry about 1.20 under with there cars since the only under factored cars are the new ones - LMAO We cannot go 1.20 under in BB - close but only in very good air Ron

A couple of years ago at Indy, I heard the same thing about the A/SA cars entered. Then Barton uncorked a killer run and showed just what was possible. He also showed that he had a superior car. I think it is much cooler to see cars really pushing it to see who is really quicker in similar cars. Some of the Opens that experience killer conditions have an opportunity to really show the other cars in their class where they stand. I am sure there are plenty of cars out there that will take advantage of it and they aren't all CJs, DPs COPOs or 350 dish piston Chevy Trucks! I think it will be cool. I think there will be some bruised egos from the guys that now understand their car is. .2-.3 tenths slower then some others with the same combo. Me, I am used to it so I can take it! LOL.

leave it to NHRA to hang thier hat on the Automatic Help For Slugs as the only way to fairly evaulate and adjust horsepower with no human involvement and with computer precision and accuracy > and then SANCTION RACES THAT IGNORE THIS MUCH VAUNTED SYSTEM TO FIX ALL OUR HORSEPOWER WOES.
i am sure the AHFS cannot and will not ever work because we manipulate it... however i KNOW it cant work when you exempt the fastest runs. captain jack

Alan, this system is easy to play. If Farmer saw the new cars clicking off at 1000', then qualify in the top five, he would fix it.

Yes, the system is easy to play. That's why I said "a properly designed and well thought out system".
No system will ever work well so long as they fail to reward performance, because no one has an incentive to perform. The current system offers nothing but incentive not to perform.
