I dont have a race car so this is an opinion of someone who grew up at IHRA races. From childhood I ran to watch super stock and modified nothing else really mattered to me till top sportsmen came out.I remember the first time I got to line up a freinds stick car in the water at about 17 ,words can't describe the feeling. The point is it would be great if those old days came back but we know they won't.all anyone can hope for is Ihra to flourish. With the popularity of stick car shows how about a stick only dial in class.Within a certain et range.Gives people an option at a national event or points race .Not everyone can afford the engine to run class but still want to change gears .

You are exactly right too! Back in October I was planning to go to the Division race at Reynolds, it was the same weekend as the Sportsman Spectacular and World Finals in Memphis. I was not qualified for the finals but the sportsman race gave me another chance and it paid $5000 to win so I decided to drive a few more hours and go to Memphis. On my way there between Birmingham and Memphis I passed no less than 4 rigs headed the other way! These guys either drove right through Memphis or were a couple hours of Memphis. I guess they may not all were going to Reynolds but it sure appeared that way and were passing up good money to drive further for alot less money. I just don't understand why some will not try it, it just baffles me.

x2 for this one as well. That was a major bummer that San Antonio had such a poor attendance for a race that should've had the pits full of class racers...not to mention racers who lived much closer than I, the guy who showed up from Michigan, and Matt Hawk. Oh well, with what's going on here in Az, it's possible that after April gets here the only track my state will have will be an IHRA track...Southwestern International Raceway! Now, if only these new owners will offer the Pro-Am classes at their Nitro Jam race???

I also hope the new owners will bring the Pro-Am divisional series out to their/our Division 7 region. Heck if we lose both Speedworld & Firebird Intl. Raceway, then IHRA's Div. 7 will geographically be closer to get to than NHRA's D7. Given that NHRA doesn't seem to care about western geographics (or restructuring the divisional layout), like they did in both the NFL, and NBA, but they sure liked copying the "Governators" doubling of licensing costs (thus using it to increase the costs of our competition numbers)! Isn't it interesting that the NHRA is copying the IHRA's format for National Dragster magazines becoming bi-weekly, and going to an online magazine offering, however while they reduce the number of magazines we get, the cost stays the same? Go figure....
