Jim, in Martin 2011 the scales broke on Friday and Andrew had a couple of possibilities close to him for heads ups. Instead of getting someone out to fix the scales IHRA decided to not have heads up races for the weekend. Last summer at Memphis a good friend of mine had a heads up run with a slower car. Right before eliminations were going to start they announced the scales were not working and there would not be any heads up runs. My friend had weighed an hour before and said the scales were right on. I enjoy racing with IHRA, everyone is always nice, and they make you feel welcome. I know there are a lot of NHRA guys that wouldn't race with IHRA if there life depended on it and I really don't understand why, although I think the buyback deal for the sportsman spectacular races, the perception that the performance aspect is not important, a lot of eighth mile racing, and stories like mine hurt the IHRA brand with a lot of stock and super stock racers. The main reason we didn't race any IHRA races last year is the fact Andrew was doing good in Nhra points and we drove all over the country trying to win the division.

Greg, I understand now. I did not work those races and was not aware they had that problem. I always enjoy seeing and talking with you and Andrew and wish you the best for 2013. Jim

With the sale, is the track operator legally bound to honor a contract he has with IHRA? Just wondering if there are tracks out there that would "jump ship" if given the chance. If the contract is with Feld Motorsports I wouldn't think they would have to honor any agreement.

Not sure how that works, but IHRA stands as its own entity that was owned by Feld Motorsports so I would assume the contracts would be with IHRA and not Feld. So I would assume that unless there was an out clause in the event of a sale or bankruptcy the tracks are still binded to the new owners.
