Dick will fix this sport...As long as you have 200,000 to put in the car, and like running heads-up!

Wink Re: Stock by class

Stockracer, We can work together to "fix" some of the issues if we try. Do you agree no heads up in eliminations would be a shame? Do you agree more class racing would be great? If so get involved and realize I want this also.
I was supporting the Super Mod of NSCA with middle sized motors and wt cars. I support TOP/Stk because it is supported by the racers in Div 1 and now 3. I support TOP/SS because it is close wt to AH cars and I felt other brands deserve to be in the "SHOW" also if we could merge them fairly.
If possible I see 3-5 heads up classes possible in the Open events where multiple classes could combine to create a BIG field in each. Jr stock in Div 1 is very successful already.
This method of combining can give more opportunity to run heads up for the true Class Racers.
I would support spec motor any body class at fixed wt if it gave racers a chance to race heads up.
I loved the U/SA shoot out idea at the Southern Sports . Heads up racing with trash talking to go with it. ha ha.
Thanks Dick

LOL, just messing with you man. For sure, the Sunbird fears the Canadian Escort Service. Still can't get it to within close of the minimum weight for E. At least when I bought Tom Kasch's car, I am safe in D (I think). You and Sibernick would probably be a good race.

Dick I do agree with you on most things...You CAN NOT get rid of heads-ups...It is what class racing is based on...But Top/SS and Top/S is only the fast cars, and Im not kiddin when I say &200,000 to get in. But, lets make it 9.0 breaks in SS and 10.5 in Stock... Get more than the few cars that are already involved...There arnt many of those fast cars that can reach the min weight in Top/SS in my part of the country...BUT if you get all the cars in the 9.0-10.0 breaks, I think it would take off out here! Just an Idea!

Cool Re: Stock by class

My 1 1/2 cents
Cars are built to fit a class the person wants to run, if he is the only one in the class so what, it's not his fault.
I do agree that the fuel injected cars should be placed back in with the non-injected cars to reduce the classes.
I totaly disagree with combining classes just to get more heads up runs.

And one last thing, people who don't race these classes should not have a say in it

Stockracer, Tony Depillo tried 10 lb in NSCA and it failed. Maybe because it was at another meet. I feel trying to work in NHRA events is best as everyone is "trained " to come to them anyway. I agree with the lower wt class also. Had to start somewhere. I would like to see 10 lb area Heads up too. Many cars and many combinations. The one issue is there are some tightly factored cars running one class and loosely factored ones which could bump in and make it tough. Hope for the future though. Thanks

Thanks for throwing me under the Escort Mikey...lol.

Really theres no sense in going to Indy with a car that only goes -.300, let alone take off a week from a job with a tight schedule. I'm not too far over the minimum weight either, it's just that ithe Sunbird doesnt work too well as a EF/S at the 25.00 weight break. I would have been happier if they had just consolidated the FWDs with the RWDs a few years ago because from what I remember there was gonna be Z/SA at a 27.5 weight break which would have meant the Bird's index would have been close to the HF/SA index of 18.60. When they finally do combine the classes I hope they put that proposal out there again. Then you will see the Sunbird at Indy again.

But I digress....I am not opposed to running heads up against the other EF/S cars. There's a 50-50 chance I will attend the Dutch this year. Will they make the trip too?
