Got a couple of questions, what kind of clutch do you have and how much does the complete assembly weigh? Flywheel, pressure plate, and disc. And how big off a tire do you run? 8600 is extreme to me on the launch, but for a super stocker it might be the norm. I believe that most stick cars like to spin the tire a little on the launch. I sure stick guys can chime in and say if there cars spin a half turn or so on the line. I am a dead hook guy on the starting line, and if my cars spins the tire a little it doesn't pull the motor down as far and the car will run fast. But I don't run super stock or stock. But I do race a clutch car. You might need a little bit more total weight on you clutch assembly, to get the tire moving.

Sounds to me like it maybe running/starving for fuel under high load/launch conditions. Fuel volume may not be high enough on launch. It would then be ok in 2nd or higher gears because the demand would not be as much.

I believe that the 4GC like the WCFB needs to be tipped forward so it does not starve it on launch. Not sure if that is done on yours but just a thought.

Not sure if this is the same on a wide tire car but on my 9" tire if we do not have enough air pressure and the front end is loose we hit the tire so hard when I let the clutch out it kills the wheel speed and bogs the motor bad. We had a few still shots taken of the car and the tire was down to the rim then rolled over itself. My holley combo overcame that pretty fast but my WCFB will die until 2nd gear then run great. Just a thought.
