Still bogus. Peter, do you think they could go to SS in Stocker form (9" tires, foot brake & all), and run 1.12 under the SS index, at more MPH than any legit SS car in that class has ever gone? Saw a DP do it at Houston.

Correct me if i am wrong and i may sound like a idiot. But isn't the whole point of class racing and heads up runs to find and take every advantage you can within the rules to win the round and/or the race. Eventually sand bagging will catch up to those cars/drivers and cost them hp or a race.

It was killer air. When he went 9.88 @ 135.XX it was just over 400'.
He & Ronnie Terrill would be a good race, but Ronnie's car is a real SS car with years of R&D. Take that engine out of that brick and put it in an SS Firebird think what it would go. LOL Could have I run that fast in that air? I'm sure I could. But, mine isn't a stocker. WOULD I have run that fast? Probably not. :-) I never seem to get to run in air like that.

Believe it or not, I’m trying to help the new cars image. I love them. I just had to relate it to something in real life that has a very negative reputation. If you reread the entire topic, plenty of others have made reference to what I’m saying and some others didn’t get it. Ratcliff, Carr, Wright, Carter, Carpenter, Cutta, Schaechter, Hoven, A. Hill, Worner….. well, pretty much everyone who posted in this topic made reference to the extremely low hp rating and people protecting it by running on 2 barrels as being the problem with the new cars. Do what you got to do, I’ll dodge the new cars as best as I can in heads up, and try to get them hp if I do run them. That’s all I can do and I’m ok with that. Nobody is saying anything different besides the extremely low hp ratings and people protecting them. It’s up to you to change that. We don’t have new cars. Go out there and run 1.40 under and earn your free bye run, instead of adjusting the % on the throttle to run .99 under and keep stealing them, race after race for what looks like years to come. I promise your name will be praised on this forum by many of its members and the respect of the community is worth way more than a few bye runs in my book. I'm serious. If I'm out of the race, I will be on the starting line in your corner. I want you to win at some point. Maybe then you will realize you don't need such an extreme advantage to win. You can do it legitimately. |

i feel your pain. the first time i got beat by a old car in a long time was in houston by speedy emmons and that is ok.but if NHRA would have left the fuelinfected cars in there own class everybody would be happy.i like the new cars. the sport needs these cars but don't make the old cars junk and worthless at the hands of the new cars in a heads up run.put them back in there own class.like IHRA has them and the way NHRA use to have them. i think that would be the fair way to do it.
