Get a copy of the IHRA rule book, 2007 edition page 79 discusses "Stock GT". Most rules are the same as stock (NHRA or IHRA) but this allows you to run a 79 or older motor combo in a 80 or newer body, corporate matchs only.
I ran my 87 Firebird in GT/D a couple of times with a 70 model chevy 350 - 255hp combo. Used a turbo 350. Not many cars in class, and can run some soft, good bracket type combo's without fear of heads up... I could not afford to be the fastest, but I was there to win the race, not just qualify at the top. Good luck, Ken |

OK OK, I will give you your due Lil D... Some can get both ends of it done, as you have showed, even with that Blue circle F word motor !
Real message is that I feel its a real good, and can be a slightly cheaper, way to go stock racing. Just one more way IHRA helps make it easier to class race... More racers we have, better for the life of our sport. Tell your Dad I said hi. Ken Graham |
