This whole thing is really disheartening. I do not own a completed Stocker or have I ever raced one. I have accumulated about everything I need to complete my SC360. The car is @ the chassis shop, & all major parts have been purchased even the overpriced R4B intake.

I guess I'm upset @ the fact that the sanctioning body would approve something without documentation then revoke it when they are shown documentation otherwise. How could they approve it in the first place? Yes the parts would benefit the combo but other than what I have out for those parts I really don't care if we had them or not. My car won't slow down after taking them off because it is not together.

I will continue to build the car & try to recoup some of the money I paid for the legal/illegal parts. It doesn't change the fact of what happened. What will be the next thing I buy that I can't send back?

Many years ago when I raced a 69 390 AMX it ran ok with a AFB but it would fly with a 780 Holley.
If you saw an AMC with a 780, had to be an IHRA car.

It is a well known fact that dealers were replacing the Motorcraft carbs with Holley's. My college roomate had either a 70 or 71 AMX that was having issues with the carb; the dealer replaced it with a Holley.

The 69 AMX that I saw was at several IHRA races but I also saw NHRA qualifying sheets on Dragracecentral with the same AMX & driver listed. BTW only a few days ago in the NHRA class guide the Holley 780 cfm was a replacement carb for 290-390 ci engines. I worked for the local AMC dealer from 1969-1974 and I dont know of any swaping carbs that AMC approved . I am sure if the customer wanted to pay for a carb swap the dealer would let them know that his warranty was void

Steve O,maybe the paperwork presented was a bit "enhanced"?Anybody know what the deal is with the TRW pistons is?
There is still a pretty good AMC combo that hasn't had enough thrown at it that's
perfectly legal, just nobody to make the commitment.

Thats exactly it. If I did not have more irons in the fire than I can count, a hornet sc/360 would be coming. Thats still a solid 1.00 under plus player, just not a 1.50 under ride with all the extra enhancements.

Paul, that's not the combo I was talking about.Although with some HP off, the 360 4 bbl. would encourage someone to pursue it.
