My personal opinions about the ethics of real estate agents/ brokers has as much relevance to a shubeck lifter as Jeff Lee's comments about street racing ..... none the man asked for comments on his lifter not a lecture from anyone

No, I do not drive for MILES. The above picture is taken 1 1/2 miles from my shop. I don't race against people out there. I don't take riders. I don't "show off" for the neighbours.
Simply, if acting responsibly, it's a SAFE environment to tune the car.
DavyJones,
Or anybody else...This is the statement by 409Stocker to RocketBlock were I chimed in.
I disagreed with a statement made by 409stocker so I followed up with a response. Get it? Least I'm using my name...

This is getting ugly, guys.

Given the fact that Schubeck seems to be disappearing anyhow...
What are the alternatives ?
I was advised by another fellow, to look at the stuff from Performance Research. While I believe that their parts would probably handle the job, the $2300.00 CDN price tag is a littler much for cam and lifters.
I'm not bargain hunting ( I gave up on that thought a LONG time ago with this thing ! ).
Just looking for a more realistic option.

Hey Jeff, If you look closely in the picture you will notice that the car has a tag on it...

And you are going to tell me that if you lived in an area where there are no houses for miles and the closest track is 280 miles from home that you wouldn't run it a half mile down the road and back if you needed to see if something worked properly. Hell, I will make dry hops in my driveway all day... and I DID test our pure stocker on the street last year. It was tagged still...

Maybe they are just more laid back than most of the pricks here in the US. Where I live most of the people are pretty laid back, but it all returned to mass chaos this weekend when the college asshole students that have no respect for anything showed back up...

For the record...
absolutely...
insured and licensed ( antique plates... which, ironically, because the car is by definition, STOCK, it qualified for ). Further, antique plates are permitted limitied use. One of these uses is to inspect, test, effect repairs on the motor vehicle.
Oh, did you notice the license number ? !
They are 1962 Alberta plates, with "409" in the number !
Registered as an alternative plate number, you must display front and rear, and carry the actual issued antique plate with you, in the car.

I'm just trying to have fun, guys.

I'm going to be sending him a complete "package" that runs on my cam. He says they have a spintron / computer setup / program that will identify the issue ( if any ), and provide the info needed to correct it. Variable rate valve springs, with actually LESS pressure.
Less pressure makes me happy !

Like I said.... I will be going to the tool steel parts.
Decided to replace pistons too. At the end of the honing, I will be at .075" over, and WAY too much piston-to-wall ( .012" - .013" ). I like .009"

Thanks Todd
Aubrey :
I have set my Schebecks at .003" and have had no trouble. I wonder if the extra clearance is allowing the "pucks" to get hammered too hard?
What does everybody use for clearance with these lifters?

Cam... mine of course is solid flat tappet, so "lash" is neccessary.

This engine ran with these lifters for a couple years, same lobe profile.... TROUBLE FREE.

I did not notice your lash settings previously. I can tell you from my own experiences with a "hydraulic" stock eliminator cam (which in effect is a solid cam, hydraulic by definition only, not in useage), that anything over .010" would beat up the valve train and not retain a consistant tolerance. If your lucky it just breaks rockers, if your not, you will probably break Schubeck lifters. My opinion after breaking several sets of Schubecks is it is a harmonic problem. Remember, they glue a ceramic type structre onto a steel lifter body. But I have no way to prove it as I do not have a spintron to scientifically verify it. And I've been down the complete path from low to high spring pressures and from a single spring to spring with dampner. I can tell you that the absolute best control I had on my valve train (using billet cam as well, with no dips for lifter pump-up; a true solid cam) was keeping a "tight" .0025" - .003" lash with pushrod cup at it's maximum height. And mine ran faster with tight lash vs. loose lash. I see no reason that would not hold true for your engine.
I would also suggest you adjust all valves rotating the engine with a wrench, not a starter.
