Commercially built units people buy now are powered by electric motors. What they built was a SBC (no pistons) powered by a 460" Ford engine, running at a 2-1 overdrive. 5K for the 460" was 10k (DUH! But, that was the first time I heard of valve springs smoking. Think it was Gordon Holloway telling me about seeing that. It was during valve float.

Harmonics was killing stock valve springs. That is all we were allowed to run.

So the Harmonics were hurting the Springs or were they heating up changing the yield and losing spring pressure or both?
