Re: Calling quits!!
Should IHRA have made the rule prior to the start of the season? Yes. Did they take into consideration that people living east of the Mississippi would claim Div. 6, go to the Immokalee and Memphis Wildcard races and fill in their schedules with local races to get another 4 "out of division" claims and thereby have an insurmountable advantage over "real" Div. 6 cars who only have four "in division" races and would have to make TWO 30-40 hour tows just to attend four out of division races? Evidently not.
It's too bad that Pittsburgh was not a split Div. 1/3 race this year. Many of the schedules are very limited this year. When your Division only consists of three double headers and you MUST attend four "In", you can't miss more than one weekend, or you get a zero for the season. I'm not chasing points in IHRA Stock this year because we could not physically get that car to four races in any single Division. That got me the year we made the Volare a Super Stock car. I went to a bunch of Divisionals, but they were scattered throughout multiple divisions. I think I went to more Divisionals than most people. Despite having enough points to the make the Top 3, instead I got a zero for the season because only three of my races were in Div. 9. This rule and schedule now has me attending less races, not more.
