Any ideas on the track prep Wednesday nights .... Looking to test ... Don't wanna waste my time if I can't hit it hard in 60'..... Atco was disappointing on Father's Day ... Good for a little while then was gone for the rest of the day as nothing was done to maintain it

Im not sure if the Wednesday night traction problem is 100% true, they have been running a 500 dollar race and there are a lot of 9 and 10 second cars running. Ficacci was there last week, Linke runs those nights, so you might want to talk to a couple people who have run down there this year, I ran 9 or 10 of those races last year, and traction wasn't a problem.
just my 2 cents Duane |

The gamblers program at Etown works well for a test and tune. I was there last Wednesday and made 4 runs before 8:30, winning one round of the gamblers. It's a good program and I plan to go as often as I can to test and practice. They spray the track before the gambler cars go out each time. It's a good deal and worth a try at least once. Rules are no delay boxes or throttle stops, everything else goes. The Sunday's take all day, and racing dragsters and delayboxes are not fun. If your car doesn't hook on Wednesday night, you better work on it.

I cannot say much about how they prep the track at E Town, but if they are using PJ1 for traction on compound, chances are the starting line will not be very good. When track temp. gets to 95 to a 100 degrees things get really bad. Everyone has been having trouble with traction issues this year, especially stick cars. Time was, when you would walk out on the starting line, it would pull your shoes off. That was when VHT was being used. Anyway it adds up, VHT or PJ1, something has changed and it shows on your 60 foot time and on your shoes. They say PJ1 is the same as VHT, only costing less money per drum. Just walk out on the starting line and see for yourself if your shoes stick to the track. You will be in for a surprise.
Something's different and I know VHT worked and they changed the name of the product to PJ1 and now many people are having trouble hooking up.

Joe,
I've run at E-Town on Wednesday nights occasionally and Sundays regularly for the past couple of years. Track has been pretty good this year. Wednesday can get a little spotty later in the evening due to the street cars, but that's mostly due lack of time to continually prep with the 10:00 pm curfew. Don't think of the traction problems of the national as a regular occurrence. You know my car (a footbrake Super Stocker for those of you that don't). I've been consistently going 1.30 - 1.32 in 60 off the footbrake with radials with no problems. It was nearly 90 degrees last Sunday and the car went 1.31 in 60 on the last pass late in the afternoon on cords... Hope this helps. |
