Add to the list:
enough racer population to make a profit
good weather and no rain year-round
low entry fees
perfect track prep every time
no noise-hating neighbors with lawyers

Norwalk does have alot of the items you've mentioned.....a few years back I believe Jr. was attempting to purchase the Huron County airport to create a Motorsports Business Park but might have gotten shot down by the FAA.

A couple years ago George Bryce was doing the same type of setup down in Georgia, not sure where that stands anymore.

One thing you forgot.......a Starbucks, hell I don't care for it that much but I'd sure rather pay for that coffee than get what usually is available at a drag strip and it's about the same damn cost.

Don great thread, I enjoyed your great zest for investment. The first thing to find would be a loving city council with the Mayor in your back pocket(not an unobtainable goal, Detroit would be a good place to start or in my own backyard Montreal). Like they say, location, location an Indian Reserve would be my first choice as they're quite progressive in the entertainment and gambling field. My first requirement of any new track would be a quality Rest area with proper showers(men and woman) on a par of many Flying J's were they clean the showers after every person using it, I wouldn't have any problems paying extra for($5) wouldn't break the bank for any promoter.Noise and hotels do not go hand in hand.lol Great ideal, keep them coming. CR

1. There would be enough paved parking for 600 race cars with Hook ups for 300 Motor Homes At a extra fee of course there aint; no free lunch as everyone knows. Pay the extra fee at a control center and we will switch the hook ups on .( another potential profit center )
2. There will be enough parking for all spectators, at a extra fee of course there is no free lunch. .( another potential profit center ) There will be a shuttle from a central location for the cheapes that don’t want to pay for parking
3. There will be a Grocery Store at track, open all year around.( another potential profit center )
4. There will be three major restranuts at Track, open all year around. .( another potential profit center )
5. There will be a Hotel at track with 300 rooms, open all year around. .( another potential profit center )
6. There will be a Casino at hotel, open all year around. .( another potential profit center )
7. There will be two staging lanes on each side of track . one for the few remaing pros and one for the huge amount of sportsman. These lanes will and can be filled at once to prevent any delays in running .
8. I will buy or invent two machines that will clean and prep the track in less than 15 minutes.
9. The track will be dug out with a up hill shut down area. Two major walls will be build on each side of the track all the way to the end for noise control plus to make the noise louder
10. There will be suites over the stands almost over the track for more paying customers, with special waiters for your needs of course at a extra fee. .( another potential profit center )
11. If a race team wants preferred parking for a race we will take reservations in advance for your pit early if not the first come first serve will apply . if a racer wants preferred treatment pay up .
12. There will be a park for the kids to play in of course it will cost to get in like an amusement park on a smaller scale. .( another potential profit center )
13. There will be an entertainment Office for anyone that wants to go on a tour or shopping for wives or kids ,of course it will cost there is no free Lunch.
14. There will be a office for anyone wanting health insurance ,car insurance etc.( another potential profit center )
15. There will be a office for any racer wanting any special desires or needs ,at a small fee of course. .( another potential profit center )
16. The track will be open all year around for testing at a fee of course a full prepped track regardless of class if you have the money you will get the track prepped big time. .( another potential profit center )
17. There will be superior lighting at the whole place of course .
18. Each Lighting pole will have a speaker so every racer and fan will be able to hear the PA.
19. There will be a full time RV park open all year around of course. .( another potential profit center )
20. There will be a full time machine shop available for racers open all year around of course .( another potential profit center )
21. There will be radios for a fee for anyone who want to see the ets or hear the racers talking to their drivers available for rent . .( another potential profit center )
22. All employees will have uniforms and will be trained to take care of the paying customer big time . NO COST TO CUSTOMER OF COURSE>
23. I would have cameras all put in all viewing places unmanned and being controlled by one person to show all races all the time over the internet or TV 24/7.( another potential profit center )
24.
What an Awesome place this would be. I would never want to leave. I say send your idea over to Bruton Smith

This Track should be in The 6th largest City in The US Phoenix,AZ . The Old Firebird Drag Strip would be perfect if the new owners and management would spend the Money. I hope they do The new management have not really indicated to any one what all will be done to the Race track . I gave them these suggestions will see what happens >

Having the grandstands within eyesight of the track should be included. I was introduced to drag racing at the old San Gabriel track and being close to the action made it much more exciting for the spectators. The closest thing to it we have in div 6 is Spokane, much better than having to use binoculars to see the action.
