Still take a long time to get them on an equal basis with everybody else. Then they would have to go to work testing headers, cams, intake manifolds and converters like the rest of us.

Yea your right Larry and those guys at engines inc don't ever test anything. They just slapped some bone stock engine together and ran -1.50. It's that easy

Ed you are forgetting that there are no where near the gains with the new stuff. My heads for example are killer to start we have slowed down two sets trying to improve them. All factory heads way better then they were 20 years ago

Besides the heads, you would have to be one dumb sucker to look at the specs for, an example, the LT1 and the 360" DP, and say "Yeah, those would be the same hp."
Gotta wonder about the guy at NHRA that accepted that. Give me the same compression, valve sizes, port volumes, and throttle body and give me the ten more cubic inches. Oh, and either take back my four hp, or give them four so we would weigh the same. Make us both 275, or 279. I would happily run them for class or heads up every day. Get beat and I would know I needed to work harder, not know I just got screwed.

At least if I stay home, the LT1 guys that have been badgering me to slow my car down more, and not run too fast in class at Indy will be happy.

Ed, how about a set of fast burn heads and a 1000cfm throttle body?

Yeah but the me factory engines have super strict fuel economy and emissions restrictions that the older cars didnt have. Just from tuning, a new car can pick up a lot more HP than an old car. True, there is less to be gained in the cylinder heads because the new ones are so good, but that's not exactly a disadvantage in stock eliminator!

However, I personally think it's possible for an LT1 to win SS/HA, SS/IA, and SS/JA!

I agree about H, have to see Stewart lose I to believe it, I don't know how fast those DPs in J are. Even if they are slow (can't imagine how you could make one slow) an LT1 would have to get by Ronnie Terrell. That little car is extremely dangerous for a legit car.

Prolly 9.70's, based on what some other 5.9's have gone and factoring in the weight difference.
