Related to a decline in automotive interest would be aeronautical. The trend there seems about the same:

There is more of a tendency today for people to be needy and dependent and risk-averse. That is not a good demographic for flight training or for flying.” It also doesn’t help when fathers teach their children about risk with lessons such as this: ![]() I think I’m going to start drinking.
