We're headed to Dallas Raceway Dan October 19th-20th for their 1st annual Southwest Domestic vs. Import shootout. I think there is a heads-up NA class we can be competitive in. If not, they have an 11.50 index class. Either way, the DA that time of year in Dallas is typically around 500' so we'll take some good launch pictures for you and see if we can't run 1 under.

COOL...Vette's tend to hook well. Be sure to SMILE when you lift the Tires off the ground..

BTW how far away is Dallas from your home?

Thinking about taking the Auto Train to Florida to race at the Lakeland Open Meet.

Dallas Raceway is in Crandall and that's our "home" track. About 75 miles pretty much all 4-lane divided highway and 70mph. Not a bad tow at all.

What in the world is an auto train?

Amtrak has and Auto Train where you buy a small bunk/room for two and they carry your car.

Right now the only one goes to Sanford Florida for Disney World.
You have your own car in Florida.

Making it less expensive to fly and rent.
Takes 18 hours by train but most if the trip is sleeping.
Meeting people and a nice dining experience.

Only drawback for me. Wish I was in the Navy.
The rail cars will rock back and forth playing with your brain.

When we were there we took the SSuperwagon.
Visited both Atlantic and Gulf Florida beaches.

Took Maria, Maria's mom, daughter Christina to Disney World.
Did a lot in a week.

And experienced I-4 traffic.

Hey Dan ... got to slip out to the track tonight. Friday it rained 10" (yes, you read that correctly) ending our string of Lord knows how many 90+ days in a row. Today was supposed to be in the low 80's, breezy and low humidity. Wendy and I loaded up the RV (first time towing with it), the Corvette and headed 1.5 hours NE to Crandall to TNT.

DA was around 1800' all evening (I'll look up the exact numbers later) ... not bad conditions but not perfect either. We'll take it for September in Texas.

Best run was 11.74 @ 113 with a 1.53 60'. Car was very consistent. Ran an 11.74, 11.75 and 11.77 and we were playing with tire pressures and not cooling the car at all (only icing the intake). 1/8 time was 7.40. The scales were closed but based on my calculations we were about 150 lbs. over. On a 12.45/8.10 index we were 7 tenths under. If you put any stock in drag race times density altitude web site and conversion at sea level it said it would be an 11.49.

Best part of the evening was Wendy getting seat time. She's only been to the track as a spectactor a handful of times in her life (all with me) and has NEVER been down the track. Eventually, as she feels more comfortable, I'd like her to do all the driving (she is 140 lbs. lighter than me!!!) She did AWESOME for her first time. First pass was 14.50, second was 13.05 and then 11.98 and 11.91. Her last 2 60' times were 1.75 so she's still figuring out how to leave and left off the brake at the same time. I was very proud of her!

It's 2am and we're home safely and unloaded. All and all a wonderful evening. In behind roads relaxed and watched UT win as we enjoyed a cool eveing finally! Excited to get out again soon ...
