Ok, I know ahead of time that this is a dumb question. My wife and I are sitting here wondering why can't pump gas pass? Race gas is going to make you go quicker so if you make a mistake and put pump gas in why isn't it approved? It won't give you a performance advantage. Again, I'm new to the fine lines and don't understand what the big deal would be. ???

NHRA has a list of fuels that are legal for Stock and Super Stock.
Pump gas isn't on that list. |

And, when you tell them it is "C11" "C12", etc , it has to check between certain numbers at a given temp. If not it is illegal.
My pit vehicle and portable gen all run on C11. One less thing for an old man to mess up.

That's a tough deal for sure. Do they normally check fuel in the later rounds when it's not a heads up run? Those last two rounds were some tight packages, especially the final!

I should not say anything here since I get confused easier that I use to
I have a 2/12 gallon red generator gas can and a clear 5 gal fuel jug Hind sight is always easy - I have done some pretty dumb things in the last few years Things - I do not think I did 5 years ago That said - it is easy to make mistakes - hard to correct them Just have a few drinks and move on Some will kill me for this but - if you have an x-wife blame her - she would expect it Ron

Dumb questions here -
Does Bertozzi have to check fuel and weigh when reinstated? Does Jared get to keep the semi round money? |

From the EPA: Oxygenates are fuel additives that contain oxygen, usually in the form of alcohol or ether. Oxygenates can enhance fuel combustion and thereby reduce exhaust emissions. Some oxygenates also boost gasoline octane. The Clean Air Act requires use of oxygenated gasoline in areas where winter time carbon monoxide levels exceed federal air quality standards. Without oxygenated gasoline, carbon monoxide emissions from gasoline-fueled vehicles tend to increase in cold weather. Winter oxygenated gasoline programs are implemented by the states. The links below provide information about oxygenated gasoline, winter oxygenated gasoline areas, oxygenates (such as ethanol and MTBE), and health effects testing of oxygenates. Basically pump gas that has been oxygenated has qualities that are similar to those banned fuels unacceptable to NHRA. Since field testing is not able to decipher the exact recipe's used in the fuel being tested, if it a fuel check reveals certain properties, it's no good. Now, proper field testing is a whole 'nother story.
