Default 8.5 rear end for 1980 G body GM

What years 8.5 GM rearend will fit in a 1980 Buick Regal ( G body)?

As a bolt in, 78-87. Regal T-Types, Grand National and Olds 442's had them.

77-96 b body are really close to direct bolt in other than width. upper arms need to be shortened and shock mount needs to be moved to rear of housing from front.

Only the Buick Turbo Cars and Olds 442 came with the 8.5 inch. Monte SS and all others were 7.5. They are cheaper than a 12 bolt . I have seen non posi assembly's go for $500 or less. G80 is the posi code . Lyn go on here and look around, good bunch of guys

And, some b/c body are bolt-in axles. My 79 Lesabre came that way, shocked me!

Some Buick, Olds, Pontiac BOP Be careful some have some different internals, bearings...

Just had one in the shop, had to piece together a bearing kit.
