Having attended many NHRA and several IHRA events the size (more Pros, more Sportsman, more days) is the big difference.
As a Sportsman racer (then Comp - now Stock) I don't ever recall being treated unfairly. Tech inspection was the same after setting a Record. I also don't recall any Politics in either (maybe us little fish are ignored?) Location is limited in IHRA -Nothing in Northeast since NED went NHRA- and many racers have only one choice. |

I also like having several events to chose from close. Plus, with lower car counts, running someone heads-up isn't that common unless you're in a popular class. I've never run NHRA Stock Eliminator but have been to MANY as a crew member on a Stocker and not having the Pros to deal with is very nice. |

Don't try to compare. They are currently 2 different programs all together. My husband, nephew, daughter and I support both. I have been disappointed by both at times but also totally accepted and for the most part treated fairly by both. Sadly IHRA currently has no payout..I won at Pittsburgh last yr and lost money on the weekend. Of course most of us do not make a living racing but when you win, you expect to come out ahead. I personally like NHRA national events. We have met and made friends with lots of the pro drivers and if your lucky enough to make it to Sunday it's pretty cool to race in front of a crowd during the pro turn around.
Bottom line...I love to race and I will probably do it as close to home as possible where the money is flowing!

I hope IHRA goes back to just what they had before.Full pros full sportsman. It was the most fun ever. And the officials were great. We loved the racing and my kids loved the pros.Bader ran one hell of a show.Every NHRA race we go to we enjoy and are treated great but I run into racer all the time there saying that they had much more fun at the old IHRA races and want them back.We used to race Top stock and their national events were packed.Never could figure out why they changed.
