Gas got down to 3.099 here then went up to 3.499.. NO WAY gas prices can jump that much in one day.. I guess they have figured out we have to have it so they can do what they like..

I found a Shell station south of Petersburg on the way to Virginia Motorsport Park on Saturday that was selling Regular for $2.99! Most of the rest of the area has prices between $3.08 and $3.22. Sure beats the $3.45 we were paying this Summer (@ 7 MPG!)!

Cool Re: Autumn Gas Wars??

Seems that the vast differences in fuel prices between counties, states, and nations is due to vast differences in taxation. It's rather constant what the oil companies do to us, it's very different what local governments do to us.

In Missouri it is because of the change in gasoline from the refiners. 87 octane unlead is no longer available. Instead a sub octane unlead that has to be blended with ethanol to make the 87 octane spec. When this change over took effect last month we saw an immediate 18 cent drop at the pump.

More ethanol means lower fuel mileage so it's a wash...dang waste of good corn liquor if you ask me but I'm not trying to hijack the thread. GasBuddy is a great app for finding cheap fuel and easy to look on your planned route for potentially good fill-up spots.
