Default Re: Cajuns Next Year

Top Stock is NOW normally 8.25 pounds per HP, between A and B. However, IF the new 7.5 class becomes a reality, maybe 7.75 or 8.0 would be a better choice. Mostly due to the fact that some of the Hemi cars and some of the big block Chevy stuff are now rated at over 440HP, and 8.25 pounds per HP is a lot for them to carry. Over 3800 pounds is a lot for one of those cars to carry. A 445HP combo carries 3841.25 pounds! Hard on brakes, axles, and tires. At anything above 8.25, we run out of places to put weight, and that's with a 425HP combo.

It is however sort of a double edged sword. If you get above 8.25, some of the 426 Chryslers and the 427 or 454 Chevy cars just get too heavy, especially the Hemi and Max Wedge cars, and the ZL-1, L-88, L-72, and LS-6 cars. But even at 8.25, some of the fast small block cars cannot get light enough. At 8.5, it's just "everybody run B heads up". It's a hard choice, and it depends on who you think will be there.
